چکیده

We discuss the implications of the recent Xray and TeV γ-ray observations of the PSR B1259–63 system (a young rotation powered pulsar orbiting a Be star) for the theoretical models of interaction of pulsar and stellar winds. We show that previously considered models in which the pulsar wind is purely electron loaded have problems to account for the observed behaviour of the system in the TeV and X-ray bands. We develop a model in which the broad band (radio, X-ray and high energy γ-ray) emission from the binary system is produced in result of collisions of GeV-TeV energy protons accelerated by the pulsar wind and interacting with the stellar disk. In this model the high energy γ-rays are produced in the decays of secondary neutral pions, while radio and X-ray emission are synchrotron and inverse Compton emission produced by low-energy (≤ 100 MeV) electrons from the decays of secondary charged π mesons. This model can explain not only the observed energy spectra, but also the correlations between TeV, X-ray and radio emission components.

We derive light curves for the hard γ-ray emission, at energies up to several TeV, expected from the unique pulsar/Be-star binary system PSR B1259−63. This is the only known system in our galaxy in which a radio pulsar is orbiting a main sequence star. We show that inverse Compton emission from the electrons and positrons in the shocked pulsar wind, scattering target photons from the Be star, p...

Modelling the gamma - ray emission from PSR B 1259 − 63

The high-energy gamma-ray emission discovered using the H.E.S.S. telescopes from the binary system PSR B1259 −63, is modelled using an extension of the approach that successfully predicted it. We find that the simultaneous INTEGRAL and H.E.S.S. data permit both a model with dominant radiative losses, high pulsar wind Lorentz factor and modest efficiency as well as one with dominant adiabatic lo...

PSR J 1856 + 0245 : Arecibo Discovery of a Young , Energetic Pulsar Coincident with the TeV γ - ray Source HESS J 1857 + 026

We present the discovery of the Vela-like radio pulsar J1856+0245 in the Arecibo PALFA survey. PSR J1856+0245 has a spin period of 81ms, a characteristic age of 21 kyr, and a spin-down luminosity Ė = 4.6 × 10 ergs s. It is positionally coincident with the TeV γ-ray source HESS J1857+026, which has no other known counterparts. Young, energetic pulsars create wind nebulae, and more than a dozen p...

Detection of VHE Gamma Radiation from the Pulsar Wind Nebula MSH 15-52 with H.E.S.S

This work reports on the discovery of HESS J1514−591, a VHE γ-ray source found at the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) MSH 15−52 and its associated pulsar PSR B1509−58. The discovery was made with the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.), which currently provides the most sensitive measurement in the energy range of about 0.2–100 TeV. This analysis is the first to include all H.E.S.S. data from o...

Gamma-rays from the pulsar wind nebulae

We investigate the radiation processes inside supernova remnants which are powered by young pulsars. Using recent model for particle acceleration by the pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe), in which positrons gain energy in the process of resonant scattering by the heavy nuclei, we construct the time dependent radiation model for the PWNe. In this model, the spectra of relativistic particles, injected i...
